Hector Skifter’s Type MAS System

As prototypes of these interim solutions were being developed, a group of engineers at Columbia University was engaged by the NRL to assist in large-scale production of the interim (and apparently unloved) ARQ-8 system. This group was led by Dr. Hector R. Skifter, a specialist in the design and production of sophisticated electronic systems and founder of a company specializing in electronic countermeasures that continues to operate to this day on similar missions, albeit under different corporate ownership. What resulted from this dialogue was possibly the most effective glide-bomb jammer to emerge from U.S. industry during the war.
